Another bonehead move darn dabbitt ![]() Is it possible to bring this side flat again and rebend the proper way? I'm just worried to stress thi thin wood too much, if anyone had a similar experience, please share your solution, it'd be really appreciated. I use a heat blanket and bulbs, my bender worked flawlessly though! ![]() Thanks for your help Sergio |

Assuming you are using a fox bender with slats/blankets, yes you can bring it back. Just take it all out of the bender, wrap the side and moisten it as you would when you bend, clamp the blankets onto the ends and slowly weight it. You can sort of coax it flat by hand then when it gets pretty close, clamp it all flat to a bench with a bunch of heavy boards on top. It will go back, not a big deal, worry not. |

I've done the same and bent it back. I rewet the side and carefully bent it back againt the form until a fairly flat "s" shape and then bent as usual. I had no problems, but I think things through a bit better now! ![]() |

You can bend it back but I would use a pipe bender or maybe sandwich the wood like you would normally do for your fox bender and hold the layers together with small metal clamps and slowly relax the wood by hand off the bender. After you get it flat enough just rebend on the bender. I've undone the same problem but I used a hot pipe with a wet towel on top to unbend the mistake and it worked out just fine. My apprentice had to undo the same exact problem a month ago with no ill effects and he was unbending a tight venetian cutaway! |

Hey Serge...I am guilty of that bonehead mistake as well. I wet it, weighted it for a few days to get it as straight as possible and then re-bent it. Worked like a charm. Go slowly, as others have mentioned. |

I did that just recently, but like someone else recommended, wet the wood down and straightened it back out on the pipe bender. After it was pretty good, not perfect, I wet it down foiled it up and put it back into the SideBender and everything came out OK. I currently use light bulbs and a heat gun, but it would probably work with a blanket, just never done it before. Mike |

Glad to see you joined an exclusive club Serge. You'll be extra proud of yourself if you can salvage the side set. We're pulling for ya. Sock it to it, again! |
